Jungle Getaway at Wapa di Ume resort in Ubud, Bali

As I’ve mentioned before, we love to explore this island, and to take time off for some “mini-vacations“. This time, we decided to explore the North side of Ubud, and headed up to Wapa di Ume villas. Wapa di Ume is a beautiful resort situated about 5 minutes drive to the North of Ubud centre. From there, we drove around on our scooters, exploring the area. Even after all these years in Bali, it’s crazy how unfamiliar I am with Ubud. Ubud town has become…Continue Reading “Jungle Getaway at Wapa di Ume Villas in Ubud, Bali”

As you all know, I love to travel and visit beautiful places. However, if there’s one thing that really can kill the experience for me, it’s when a place is overflown with tourists. Unfortunately, this is usually the case in Bali. But don’t be alarmed – we’ve found a solution to the problem: very early mornings. We wanted to visit the Tegalalang Rice Terraces (again), so we decided to get up at 4:50am to try to make it there in time for sunrise, and before all…Continue Reading “How to Visit Tegalalang Rice Terrace Without All The Tourists”

Cruising with Le Pirate Explorer in Flores

For Jen’s birthday, I gave her a 3-day-2-night cruise with the Le Pirate Explorer in Flores. We were both super stoked about it, and headed to Labuan Bajo in Flores on Saturday. When we arrived in Flores, we stayed at Le Pirate’s hotel in Labuan Bajo harbour for the first night. The morning after, we headed out the Explorer 1 boat, where we were to spend the next 3 days. The boat is super nice, with 4 sleeping cabins upstairs, and a beautiful deck below equipped with…Continue Reading “Video: Defying the Storms with Le Pirate Explorer in Flores”

Woke up really early today and felt like going for a ride. I have a fully customised Honda Tiger 250 (kinda cafe racer style) that I very rarely use, so I decided her and I should go for a little joyride up the coast of Bali. I drove up the west coast, through rice fields along the coastline. The beaches in the West of Bali are black from volcanic sand, making them different from the postcard white beaches, but still cool places to visit. It still baffles…Continue Reading “Cruising Up The Coast of Bali”

Diving with Manta Rays in Lembongan

Even after all these years in Asia, I have never gone diving before (I know, it’s weird). People have been telling me “how amazing it is”, but I just never saw the potential in it. However, when a bunch of my friends wanted to head over to Nusa Lembongan to dive for Manta Rays, I figured it was my time to try this out. Had the most EPIC dive with a big school of manta rays outside Nusa Penida today! Those of u who dive…Continue Reading “Diving With Manta Rays in Nusa Lembongan”

Riding dirt bikes in Bali

I’m just going to jump right into it and say that riding dirt bikes through the amazing landscape of Bali is one of the coolest things I’ve ever experienced. Such a massive bucket-list tick-off! A friend of mine had gone on a dirt bike tour a few months earlier, and couldn’t stop talking about it, so I knew I had to check it out. I brought my friends Alyona and Logan, and we called up our friend Ari at Bali Dirt Bikes to see what it was…Continue Reading “Badass Dirt Bikes Off The Beaten Track in Bali”

Weekend at Le Pirate, Nusa Ceningan

One of the best things about being based in Bali (except for the weather, the beaches, the parties, the people, the food, and a few other things) is the ability to go on weekend getaways to amazing locations! We got an invitation to head over to Le Pirate Beach Club in Nusa Ceningan, and were quick to jump on the opportunity. Nusa Ceningan is linked to Nusa Lembongan, which is just a 30 minute boat ride from Sanur in Bali. As soon as we got to Lembongan, we…Continue Reading “Weekend Getaway to Nusa Ceningan and Le Pirate”
